The state police fire marshal ruled Saturday’s fire in Muse accidental.

A Cecil Township resident was displaced Saturday night after his home was destroyed by fire.

Cecil Township Fire Company No. 2 was called to 62 Maple St. in the Muse section of the township at about 10:45 p.m. According to Assistant Chief Patrick Tongel, the man escaped uninjured with his dog.

Tongel said the state police fire marshal visited the scene that night and determined a cooking incident caused the fire. It was ruled accidental.

The American Red Cross was called to provide assistance, according to Tongel.

In a post to its Facebook page, the fire department said the man “lost just about everything” in the fire, and shared a link to fundraising website Zeffy. Through the department’s Zeffy page, you can enter a raffle that will benefit the homeowner.
