East Washington man accused of attempting to set house on fire
East Washington police arrested a man Sunday night after he allegedly tried to set his home on fire with a woman and a 4-year-old child inside.
Donald Lee Kosek, 37, of East Washington, faces felony charges of arson and terroristic threats.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to 130 Christman Ave. at 11 p.m. Miah Thomas told officers that she and Kosek had an argument earlier in the day.
Kosek allegedly put a pair of boxer briefs against the front door and lit them on fire. According to the complaint, he also pulled a plastic pool from a pile of trash and attempted to light it on fire under the home’s front stoop. Thomas told police her 4-year-old daughter was home at the time.
Police arrested Kosek a short time later. He was arraigned Monday morning before District Judge Mark Wilson, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. July 1.
