Washington man arrested for armed robbery
Washington police arrested a man Sunday after he was accused of robbing three people at the Seventh Ward Playground.
Zion Malek Thomas, 20, of Washington, faces felony charges of robbery, carrying a firearm without a license and receiving stolen property.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the 100 block of Jollick Manor at about 5 p.m. Sunday. The three told police that while at the playground, Thomas threatened them with a handgun and stole $100.
Police arrested Thomas shortly after arriving at the scene and found him to be in possession of a stolen firearm, according to the complaint.
Thomas also faces misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.
Thomas was arraigned Sunday night before District Judge Michael Manfredi, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $75,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. March 18.
