Area farmers markets are making their return, a sure sign that summer is just around the corner in Washington, Greene and Fayette counties.

The Main Street Farmers Market in Washington kicks off this week at the Main Street Pavilion on South Main Street, and will run from 3 to 6 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 31.

“This year, we are starting off with a full market,” said Tracee Malik, president of the farmers market. “We have every space filled and we also have all of our visiting vendors’ space filled. I think this is the first year that we’ve started completely full. We’re excited.”

Malik said all of last year’s vendors will be returning, along with some new ones, including alternating coffee sellers such as the Houston Cream & Sugar Co. Among other new offerings are the Smoke Wagon and Old Ben’s Cantina.

Various musical acts will be featured throughout the season, plus special events such as First Responder Day, Future Farmers of America Day, Back to School celebration, Vet Appreciation Day, and a Fall/Halloween Party.
