Washington County man sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug and firearm possession
A Charleroi man will spend 10 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute a mixture of heroin and fentanyl and possession of a firearm, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Rashawn Ford, 28, was sentenced in the case on Wednesday.
According to information provided by federal prosecutors, state police stopped a vehicle Ford was driving in March 2021. During the stop in Westmoreland County, a trooper found packaged heroin and fentanyl, and a loaded handgun.
Police learned Ford was staying in a Westmoreland County hotel, and found additional packaged heroin and fentanyl, a handgun loaded with 27 rounds of ammunition and over $8,600.
In August 2022, state and federal law enforcement searched properties associated with Ford and discovered packaged heroin, a loaded handgun and over $200,000. He was indicted later that month, and in January, pleaded guilty to two of the eight counts brought against him.
As part of his sentence, Ford forfeited approximately $273,979 that was seized from him during the investigation.
