Volunteers help unload shoe boxes at the South Franklin Community Center drop-off site in Washington.

As shoe boxes pour into area drop off locations for Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a project of the International Christian relief organization Samaritan’s Purse, volunteers are busy loading cartons of filled shoe boxes for the next leg of their journey. The shoe boxes collected during National Collection Week, Nov. 18 to 25, will make their way by truck to the OCC Baltimore processing center before being sent around the world to children in more than 170 countries.
