Stolen credit cards: Renato Henriquez Maldonado, 22, was charged Monday by Peters Township police with theft from a motor vehicle, access device fraud and receiving stolen property. Police describe Maldonado as entering the country from Chile on a limited visa and failing to return to his home country. According to the criminal complaint, the afternoon of Sept. 15 Maldonado is accused of breaking into two cars parked at Peters Lake Park and stealing credit cards. One couple reported that $8,820 was charged to their cards at the Nordstrom store at Ross Park Mall in Allegheny County. Another woman said her card was charged about $1,500 at Nordstrom the same day. Police said security footage captured Maldonado and another unknown man at the store on Sept. 15. There is an active warrant for Maldonado’s arrest.

Assault alleged: Curtis Dean Pritchett, 66, of Charleroi, was charged by Smith Township police Tuesday with strangulation, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and disorderly conduct. According to the criminal complaint, a woman reported to police last week that the evening of Sept. 26, Pritchett pulled her hair, threw her to the ground and began to kick and jump on her. Pritchett is also accused of threatening the woman’s life, biting and punching her. Charges were issued via summons and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. Nov. 11.
