Downtown Waynesburg was blocked off to traffic Saturday, taking folks on a journey back in time to the days of poodle skirts, greased-back hair, leather jackets, doo-wop and cool, classic cars. It was the 23rd annual 50s Fest and Car Cruise presented by Waynesburg Prosperous and Beautiful. Waynesburg Prosperous and Beautiful is a nonprofit, Main Street program representing a community endeavor to preserve and revitalize historic downtown Waynesburg. As golden oldies filled the air, the streets were lined with numerous classic cars. There were many raffles and giveaways, as well as specials in all of the downtown shops on a sun-soaked Saturday afternoon. It truly seemed to be a happy day.
