Covered Bridge Festival celebrates region’s heritage

An annual tradition that is celebrated the third weekend of September, the Covered Bridge Festival was held Saturday and Sunday. It included nine bridges in Washington and Greene counties and recognized the region’s heritage with activities at each site. There were arts and crafts vendors, food, entertainment, and activities for children.

The nine bridges that were part of the festival were the Brownlee Bridge at McGuffey Community Park; Hughes Bridge in Amwell Township; Wyit Sprowls Bridge in East Finley Township Park; Ebenezer and Henry bridges in Mingo Creek County Park; McClurg Bridge in Hanover Township Park; Pine Bank Bridge at the Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village; Carmichaels Bridge; and White Bridge at Garards Fort in Greene County.
