North Strabane supervisors set hearing date for potential zoning change
North Strabane Township supervisors will hold a public hearing next month as a local developer seeks to build a “personal warehouse” with large storage facilities.
Officials rejected a request from Canonsburg-based CC Realty Advisors to change the zoning at the corner of Morganza Road and Curry Avenue from highway commercial to industry.
Township Manager Andrew Walz said that supervisors instead followed the recommendation of the planning commission to hold a public hearing to define a personal warehouse and how it should be zoned. The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at the municipal building at 1929 Route 519.
At a township meeting earlier this year, Rich Erenberg, an owner of CC Realty Advisors, explained that what is now a vacant lot would become a “condominium complex” of storage space available to rent.
As previously reported, the plans call for five buildings varying in size from 10,800 square feet to 17,600 square feet. Erenberg said the storage would likely be used by commercial customers and others with a need for large amounts of storage – such as car enthusiasts.
Also at Monday’s meeting, supervisors approved $1,379,880 in contracts for renovations to the municipal building. These included a general contracting deal with the Waller Corporation for $902,600; an electrical contract with Merit Electrical Group for $276,930; an HVAC contract with Controlled Climate Systems for $117,900; and a plumbing contract with Newman Plumbing for $82,450.
