Teenager dies after being hit by vehicle in Washington
A 15-year-old boy who was hit by a vehicle while riding a dirt bike in Washington this week has died.
Family of Johathan Gillespie confirmed that he died Thursday night in Pittsburgh.
“Bubs was the most sweetest and caring person. He loved his family, He loved his nephew. He had big plans in the future,” said Jasmine Gillespie, his older sister. “He was a great football player and wrestling player.”
Gillespie was struck by a car at 6:42 p.m. Monday at the intersection West Chestnut Street and Washington Street, according to Washington police. He was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police arrived on the scene to find the driver of the vehicle attempting to aid Gillespie. As of Friday’s deadline it was not clear if the driver would face charges as a result of the accident. Police have not identified him.
Gillespie attended Trinity High School.
Washington police are investigating the accident, with assistance from state police’s accident reconstruction unit.
