Rally on Main canceled after gunfire incident
Rally on Main, a gathering of motorcycles scheduled for Saturday in downtown Washington, has been canceled following an incident involving gunfire that occurred in Washington over the weekend.
Police Chief Steve Devenney consulted with outside police agencies and the city solicitor and determined that it was in the best interest and safety of the community to cancel the event.
Mayor JoJo Burgess said shots were fired Saturday at Forty Bar and Grille, and the incident involved two biker groups. City police joined state police in responding to the incident.
Threats of retaliation were made, so the decision was made to cancel the event.
“I spoke with the organizers, and they understand,” Burgess said Monday. “It’s a shame. But we can’t put people in jeopardy.”
Rally on Main is an event hosted by Customs Kicking Cancer, a charity based in Venetia dedicated to prostate cancer awareness, early detection, and the creation of dialogue about cancer in the motorcycle and car enthusiast communities.
Rally on Main is scheduled to return Aug. 15, 2026.
