Donora woman charged with arson

Donora police charged a woman with arson after she was accused of lighting clothing on fire during an argument with her boyfriend.

Tamara Ann Stewart, 64, of Donora faces felony charges of aggravated arson, arson endangering property and risking catastrophe.

According to the criminal complaint, shortly after 6 p.m. Monday police were called to Stewart’s home in the 200 block of Allen Avenue.

Christopher Demido told investigators that Stewart lit two of his shirts on fire and threw them down the stairs toward him. Demido was able to back away and extinguish the fire.

Stewart is also accused of shoving Demido and throwing an ashtray at him.

Stewart was arraigned Monday night before District Judge Jame Saieva, who sent her to the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. She also faces misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27.
