Charleroi residents will not face a tax increase in 2026.

Council unanimously approved advertising a spending plan for 2026 Wednesday that lists revenues at slightly more than $4 million and expenses at about $3.8 million. Millage remains at 9.85 mills, held steady since 2023.

“There is no tax increase, no reduction in services,” said Joe Manning, borough manager. “We didn’t want to put any additional burdens on anybody in Charleroi. We’re happy that we can maintain that same level of service.”

Council will reconvene at 4 p.m. Dec. 29 to adopt a final budget.

Council also voted to remove Jerry Jericho as vice president.

Councilman Larry Celaschi made the motion to remove Jericho from the position, but declined to comment why when contacted Thursday.

A subsequent motion to name Councilman Paul Pivovarnik as temporary vice president passed unanimously.

Jericho could not be reached for comment Thursday.
