Fire damages Washington Township house

An early-morning fire Thursday damaged a house in Washington Township next door to the volunteer fire department. Crews from numerous departments in the tri-county area were called to the house fire on 1302 Axton St. about 1:45 p.m. and found flames shooting from the roof. There were no reports of injuries from the fire and the extent of the damage to the house was not immediately known.

Washington Township volunteer firefighters were assisted at the scene by departments from Belle Vernon, Perry Township, North Belle Vernon, Bentleyville, Charleroi, Rostraver Township and Monessen.
