Washington police searching for suspect in Thanksgiving shooting
Washington police are asking for the public’s assistance to locate the suspect in a shooting that occurred the morning of Thanksgiving.
Police filed charges this week against Brennan Mitchell Cole, 32, of Houston for allegedly shooting a man in the foot.
At about 2:30 a.m. Nov. 27 police were called to the Washington Community Club at 127 N. Main St.
According to the criminal complaint, Cole was removed from the bar after getting into a fight. Charging documents state that he returned about five minutes later to go back inside for his coat, but was denied entry.
Police said there was another altercation outside the bar where multiple people pinned down Cole. When Cole was let up, he fired multiple shots, according to the complaint.
One of the bullets struck Cory Whitlock in the foot. Court records describe Whitlock as the “bouncer” for Washington Community Club.
Police did not provide an age or address for Whitlock.
According to the complaint, Whitlock was initially taken to UPMC Washington Hospital for treatment. When police spoke to Whitlock there, a bullet slug was sticking out of his left big toe.
Whitlock was later transferred to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
On Christmas Eve police served a search warrant at Cole’s address of 137 N. Haft St. in Houston. However, according to a post on the Washington police department’s Facebook page, police learned during the search that Cole uses the address for mailing purposes but does not live there.
In the post, police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts contact the department at 724-223-4226. Cole is described as “armed and dangerous.”
Cole is facing felony charges of aggravated assault and carrying a firearm without a license, as well as several misdemeanor charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment.
