Attorney and lifelong Greene County resident Chris Simms announced he is running for Court of Common Pleas judge.

Trusted for his extensive legal experience as a general practitioner including broad-based civil, municipal, family and criminal law, Simms pledged to be a fair judge who will serve with integrity and work to protect Greene Countians and their constitutional rights.

“I have seen how important it is to have competent, ethical, unbiased and constitutional judges,” Simms said. “As judge, I’ll be a constitutional jurist who will ensure every case is decided with impartiality and based on the law. The residents of Greene County deserve nothing less.”

Simms is a partner at Pollock Morris Belletti & Simms, LLC, a Waynesburg law firm with a history dating back to 1880. He continued the tradition of providing professional, yet personalized legal services.

Simms has spent his career representing clients in a wide range of legal matters focused on protecting the rights of families, small businesses and landowners. He is also very devoted to representing 10 Greene County municipalities, government bodies and school districts, which provides experience and a thorough knowledge of the county and the daily life of residents. His legal experience is in areas of law, which will be regularly heard by the elected judge.

Simms is also active in the community. He is a member and treasurer of the Waynesburg Rotary Club, a member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge and a member and past president of the Greene County Bar Association. His background in both private practice and public service, combined with his passion for the community, makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the bench.

Simms graduated from West Greene High School and Washington & Jefferson College, and he earned his law degree from Duquesne University.

“As a full-time practicing attorney and taxpayer, I know that residents of Greene County want our courts to operate in a cost-effective manner,” he said. “As judge, I am committed to providing equal justice that is respectful of your time and money.”

Simms lives in Waynesburg with his wife, Danielle. The couple is expecting their first child in the spring. Simms added he is an active member of his church.

“Greene County is where I grew up, built my career, and where I will raise my family. I want to give back to the community that’s given so much to me, and I believe serving as a judge is the best way to give back,” Simms said.

Simms will seek both the Republican and Democrat nominations in the May 20 primary election.
