Canonsburg hires emergency management coordinator
Canonsburg has a new emergency management coordinator.
Scott Moore was approved for the position by each of the six council members in attendance at Monday’s meeting. Councilwoman Diane Richie was absent.
“He has a pretty extensive background in emergency services,” said council President Rich Russo about Moore. “I think he’s going to be very helpful in the transition to the county’s new 911 system, when and if they decide on which way they’re going to go.”
Moore will replace Mark Mazzeo.
“He’s coming toward the end of his term,” Russo said of Mazzeo. “There are no issues. He’s still a volunteer fireman.”
The borough also will have a new engineering firm. Council voted 6-0 Monday to approve Remington & Vernick Engineers to replace KLH Engineers.
Council also voted 6-0 to advertise an ordinance to prohibit parking on the east side of Summit Avenue between Morgan Street and Taylor Alley. The move is intended to make the area more accessible for emergency vehicles.
Council also approved the addition of four new lights on the north corridor of Jefferson Avenue at a cost of $1,200.
