Fitch running for Greene County judge
Waynesburg attorney Patrick D. Fitch has announced his candidacy for judge of the Court of Common Pleas in Greene County.
A longtime resident of Greene County, Fitch is a Waynesburg Central High School graduate and earned his degree magna cum laude from Waynesburg College before attending Ohio Northern University’s School of Law.
He is admitted to practice before the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Fitch brings a wealth of legal and law enforcement experience to his candidacy.
He served as a special agent in the U.S. Secret Service, graduating with honors from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga., and later from the U.S. Secret Service’s Special Agent Training Program in Beltsville, Md. His career included investigating financial crimes, counterfeiting and protective intelligence cases involving threats against the president.
Following Sept. 11, 2001, he was assigned to an FBI Task Force and later served four years on President George W. Bush’s protective detail. He continued his service as a federal attorney before being promoted to a supervisory role on President Barack Obama’s Protective Detail, where he oversaw security for White House Chief of Staff William Daley.
After completing his distinguished career in federal service, Fitch returned to Waynesburg to raise his three children – Molly, Erin and Aidan – and to practice law in Greene County. He has since gained extensive courtroom experience as both an assistant public defender and an assistant district attorney, successfully handling cases at trial and on appeal before the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
A strong and fair-minded candidate, Fitch said he is committed to upholding justice, ensuring accountability and maintaining fairness in the courtroom. He said he firmly believes in fair but firm sentencing, balancing punishment with rehabilitation when appropriate.
Fitch has experience working as an attorney in domestic relations and presently works as an assistant public defender in Washington County.
“Accountability matters – actions have consequences,” Fitch said.
In addition to his legal career, Fitch is an active member of the community, including involvement with St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church (Parish of St. Matthias), the Knights of Columbus, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He has also taught Homeland Security & Intelligence at Waynesburg University. He is the son of Darwin and June Fitch of Waynesburg.
