1 min read

Washington police charged a woman Monday for alleged false reports of fraudulent activity on her credit card.

Bernette Ternisha Moore, 45, of Washington, faces more than 30 felony charges of access device fraud and misdemeanors of false reports.

According to the criminal complaint, the morning of Feb. 13 Moore called 911 to report there had been fraudulent charges totaling $1,167.13 to her credit card between Jan. 17 and Feb. 6.

Charging documents state that Moore had filed disputes with American Heritage Credit Union. The disputed charges included a hotel in Wheeling, W.Va., and several Washington County restaurants.

According to the complaint, investigators reviewed security camera footage at the establishments and found that Moore had made the purchases herself.

Moore was arraigned Tuesday morning before District Judge Jame Saieva, who sent her to the Washington County jail on $2,500 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. March 3.
