Driver injured after crashing into Buffalo Township home
A driver was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital Saturday afternoon after their vehicle crashed into a Buffalo Township house.
According to Claysville Fire Department Assistant Chief Marc Scott, first responders were called to 3451 Route 40 at about 4 p.m. when a sports utility vehicle went off the road and into the home.
The car took out three support posts holding up the front porch roof.
“It went in about six feet and then bounced back out. It did a considerable amount of damage,” Scott said.
The driver, who was not identified, was already being treated by EMS when the fire department arrived. According to Scott, no one was home at the time of the accident and no other injuries were reported.
State police are investigating the accident. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, but Scott said that based on skid marks in the road, the driver appeared to have been headed west on Route 40 and crossed the center line.
Crews from South Franklin, North Franklin, Taylorstown, Bentleyville, and North Strabane Fire Department also responded to the scene.
