DeLost running for Washington County controller in Republican primary
Tony Jacob DeLost is announcing his candidacy for Washington County controller for this year’s election.
Born and raised in Washington County, DeLost is a 1997 graduate of Canon-McMillan, where he currently serves as school board director in the largest school district in Washington County.
DeLost earned his bachelor’s of science degree in business management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and in 2010 he began a 12-year career in the oil and gas industry working fracking operations, wireline and pipeline non-destructive testing.
In 2014, he started his own business and raced standardbred horses at the Meadows Racetrack under the company name Shouptown Stables where he became a member of the United States Trotting Association and The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association.
More recently, public service has become a passion of his as a way to give back to the community. He has been an active member of the Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade Committee for over a decade to facilitate the second largest Fourth of July parade in the state.
In 2019, he ran a political campaign for North Strabane Township Supervisor, but lost the election to the incumbent. Shortly after, he was appointed a member of the North Strabane Planning Commission, where he currently serves as vice chair. He is also an elected precinct committee person for the Washington County Republican Committee and also serves as vice chair of the Canon-McMillan Republican Committee.
His great-grandfather, Anton DeLost, was a founding father of the SNPJ, and DeLost is currently a member. In 1989, DeLost was baptized at the All Saints Greek Orthodox church located in Canonsburg, where he served as an altar boy for eight years, and is an active member.
DeLost said the intentions of his candidacy are to bring integrity back to the office of controller as well as serve the people of Washington County.
