Several fire companies responded to a fire early Tuesday morning that destroyed a home in Donora. Washington County 911 said the call came in at about 5 a.m. for a house fire at 1280 McKean Ave, at the corner of McKean and 13th Street. Mayor Don Pavelko said the home had been abandoned, but “squatters” had been staying there. “Now we have to find the owner to tear down the rest of it,” Pavelko said. “No one got hurt; that’s the most important thing.” The state police fire marshal is investigating. Fire companies responding included Donora, Carroll Township, Bentleyville and Charleroi.
