Flags of remembrance

Cathy Tress, who serves as the southwestern regional program administrator for the Pennsylvania DUI Association, plants one of 50 American flags outside the Washington County Courthouse alongside Peters Township police Officer Matt Hlasnick, marking each death in the county caused by an impaired driver since 2020. The Pennsylvania DUI Association, state Department of Transportation, state police, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement officers teamed up Tuesday to bring awareness of the dangers of impaired driving ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
