Waynesburg man charged with stealing truck, weapons

By Garrett Neese 1 min read

A Waynesburg man was arrested Monday after allegedly stealing a pickup truck and other items from a home in Jefferson Township.

Police said Phillip Stanger, 39, admitted to taking a white Ford pickup belonging to Marko Demaske, and also to breaking into Demaske’s home and taking a 12-gauge shotgun and crossbow.

Demaske contacted police around 9:14 p.m. Monday. He had found the pickup truck nearby and retrieved his stolen items, according to the criminal complaint.

Shortly after being dispatched, police interviewed Stanger, who they said confirmed the theft and break-in. Another witness, Melissa Jenkins, accompanied Stanger to the residence and also backed up his account, court documents stated.

Stanger faces felony charges of burglary and theft by unlawful taking, as well as another misdemeanor theft charge.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
