Canonsburg begins search for new borough manager
Canonsburg is looking for a new borough manager after the death of Billie Bilko, who had been in the position since September. Bilko, 63, died July 1.
Before being appointed borough manager, Bilko served as finance manager and assistant borough manager during her first three years with the borough.
“She came to us as the finance director and did such a wonderful job there that elevated her to borough manager,” said Rich Russo, council president. “She was doing a fabulous job as borough manager.”
Russo said a committee will be formed to find a replacement when council meets July 14.
“We’re looking at a minimum of about a month,” Russo said, of the search for a replacement. Council is expected to vote July 14 to approve about $7,000 in matching funds for its “Visit Canonsburg” marketing campaign. The funds will match a Washington County Tourism Agency grant for which the borough has applied.
“The campaign is a video creation about Canonsburg, trying to put together a single marketing/tourism video that will be shared by all the social media that we have and also all of the merchants that we have,” Russo explained.
