CANTON
Retail theft: David Austin Hennessee, 20, and Raymond Jay Shinkle, 27, both of Washington, were charged by Greene County Regional Police Friday in connection to a scheme to fraudulently purchase more than $11,500 in gift cards. According to the criminal complaint, Hennessee was employed at the Circle K convenience store at 860 Henderson Ave. Charging documents state between May 31 and June 16, Hennessee loaded gift cards for Shinkle, but then refunded the order or did not complete the sale. Hennessee faces 181 charges of theft by unlawful taking, organized retail theft, access device fraud, unlawful use of a computer and criminal conspiracy. Shinkle faces 48 charges of organized retail theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy. Charges were issued via summons, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 28.
SOUTH STRABANE
Child endangerment: Fritzson Charles, 22, of Charleroi, was charged by South Strabane police Sunday with endangering the welfare of children, reckless endangerment and leaving a child unattended in a vehicle. According to the criminal complaint, at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the parking lot of the Walmart at Trinity Point Drive where two children were locked in a vehicle that was not running. Charging documents state the children were 9 months old and 3 years old. Police said both children were experiencing medical emergencies and were transported to UPMC Washington Hospital. The mother told police the children had been left in Charles’ care. Charles was arraigned Sunday night before District Judge Michael Manfredi, who sent him to the Washington County jail without bond.
