Monessen road reopened after sinkhole repaired

1 min read

State Road in Monessen is reopened for traffic, according to Mayor Ron Mozer.

The road was closed between Route 906 and Pennsylvania Avenue earlier this week due to a sinkhole caused by mine subsidence, which created a 12- to- 15-foot deep hole measuring about 10 by 15 feet in the surface area.

That prompted Mozer to issue a local disaster emergency declaration Tuesday, which enabled the city to procure services and materials without the required bidding procedure.
