Hot job
Thursday’s heat and humidity were no match for workers pouring concrete at Rhodes Carpet & Installation in Washington last Thursday. The recent heavy rains caused some serious damage to the Washington carpet company, but the store is back in full operation after the work of some local contractors. “We were severely flooded on Father’s Day weekend,” said Carly Jones, store manager. “We got about six inches throughout the whole showroom and the water got under the foundation of the parking lot.” The damage forced the closure of the showroom at the business at 620 Franklin Farms Road for the next week. Plus, the drainpipe that runs through the parking lot, underneath the building and into the back yard had to be replaced. Jones said Friday she was happy that after a month, operations were back to normal. “It will be nice to have our whole parking lot back,” she said.
