Firefighters responded to a house fire in downtown Waynesburg Monday afternoon. Firefighters were called at 1:09 p.m. Friday, Waynesburg Police Chief Billy Nichols said. One tenant was in the building at the time, and got out safely. Smoke from the fire billowed through several blocks of downtown. The extent of damage to the building had yet to be determined Monday, Nichols said. Shortly before 5 p.m., a state police fire marshal was at the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
