No injuries were reported in Saturday night's house fire in Avella , but firefighters rescued a cat from the home and used an oxygen mask to help revive it.

Firefighters from numerous departments were dispatched Saturday night for a fire that damaged a house in Independence Township near the village of Avella. The fire started at 1633 Avella Road shortly after 6:30 p.m., and firefighters were able to quickly get the blaze under control.

The fire started at 1633 Avella Road shortly after 6:30 p.m., and firefighters were able to quickly get the blaze under control.

No injuries were reported, but firefighters rescued a cat from the home and used an oxygen mask to help revive it.

Fire departments from Avella, West Middletown, Mt. Pleasant Township, Slovan, Claysville and West Alexander responded, along with firefighters from Franklin Community, Hooverson Heights and Bethany in West Virginia.
