One of the men accused of stealing money from Central Greene School District went before a Greene County district judge on Tuesday.

Brandon Vuocolo, 32, was arraigned on charges of forgery, theft and receiving stolen property. He was unable to post his $25,000 bond and is lodged in the county jail.

Vuocolo and Dominic George, 37, both of Pittsburgh, allegedly stole a check mailed from the school district and cashed altered duplicates of it.

The $6,498 check was sent as payment to Waller Corporation in Washington on Aug. 7. Police alleged the men intercepted the check and duplicated it. They then changed the check numbers and amounts, cashing the new checks at banks in the area, according to court paperwork.

Vuocolo is accused of cashing three checks totaling $6,791.16, and George’s three added up to $9,756.72.

The district’s business manager discovered there was an issue with the check when someone from Waller Corporation told her they’d not received payment.

George is scheduled to be arraigned next week before District Judge Dave Balint.
