One dead, one injured in Tuesday crash
A Washington County woman died when the vehicle she was a passenger in collided with a pole on Route 40 in Menallen Township early Tuesday.
Madison Porfilio, 23, of Washington was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to state police Trooper Rocco Gagliardi.
The crash occurred around 1:40 a.m. near the Kwik Fill gas station, police said.
Gagliardi said police think excessive speed may have played a role in the crash.
The driver, a 25-year-old man, was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. His identity has not been released, and the extent of his injuries are unknown.
Gagliardi said an investigation by state police is ongoing.
