Crews respond to two early morning crashes in South Strabane Township Sunday

A small fire occurred after a vehicle struck a pole near the porch of a home on Locust Avenue at around 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Emergency officials reported no one was injured, but residents in the nearby homes would experience a prolonged power outage.

No one was injured after another accident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. at the 1600 block of North Main Street. Officials said they do not believe any major structural damage was done to the home.

At around 3 a.m. Sunday, the South Strabane Fire Department was dispatched to Locust Avenue in response to a report that a vehicle had struck a pole and the porch of a home, causing a small fire to break out due to downed power lines.

South Strabane Fire Department officials confirmed no one was hurt but said residents in the Locus and Country Club area would likely experience a prolonged power outage.

At around 4:30 a.m., another vehicle accident occurred at the 1600 block of North Main Street when a vehicle struck a home. Chief of Fire and Emergency Services at South Strabane Township Jordan J. Cramer said no one was injured and did not believe the home had major structural damage.

“Building department and fire command staff will further evaluate both structures today. However, no major structural damage is believed to be present at either building,” said Cramer. “Thankfully no significant injuries were reported in these incidents and the occupants of both homes were unharmed. ”
