Crews were called to mile marker 5, near the Claysville exit, on I-70 West at 5 p.m.

A Hyundai sedan driven by Donna K. Havens of Wheeling, W.Va., was traveling eastbound before it crossed the grass median and hit a Ford SUV, traveling westbound. The driver of the Ford was William L. Magers, 69, of Glen Dale, W.Va.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by Washington County coroner Timothy Warco.

A passenger in the SUV was taken to a Wheeling hospital with injuries.
