Civil War reenactors from the 140th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Company A fire a 21-gun salute outside the Greene County Courthouse at Saturday’s Veterans Day parade in Waynesburg.
High Street in Waynesburg was filled with flags and the images of local veterans Saturday as crowds celebrated Veterans Day with a parade starting at 11:11 and lasting more than an hour.
Local veterans groups, Civil War reenactors, community organizations and more came out in support.
In front of the courthouse, crowds watched dance performances and marching bands, while children could get patriotic facepaint designs and pet alpacas from the Lippencott Farm.
In a pre-ceremony at the Greene County Courthouse, the parade committee honored Air Force veteran Zane Mitchell as the grand marshal, and also honored Carmichaels Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 Commander Bruce Black for his service.
