Crews began working Thursday to demolish the former South Side restaurant more than three years after the exterior of the building at 352 S. Main St. in Washington partially collapsed.

The location had been a popular bar and restaurant for decades and was most recently known as Hepinger’s Legacy Tavern until it was sold to Kush Property Management LLC in 2021. That owner was performing renovations on the interior of the building when the facade collapsed onto the sidewalk and street below June 23, 2022, prompting the city to condemn the building.

It was not immediately known what Kush Property Management, which still owns the parcel, plans to do with the location.
