The mayor of Washington issued a plea Saturday morning for witnesses to come forward after a fatal shooting in the city.

The shooting occurred at about 2:52 a.m. Saturday in the alley next to Joe’s Bakery at 123 N. Main St., according to Mayor JoJo Burgess.

Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco identified 20-year-old Julian Lassic as the man who was killed in the shooting.

Warco’s report states that Lassic, of Washington, was transported to UPMC Washington Hospital where he died at 3:40 a.m.

At a press conference Burgess said a second victim, who was not identified, was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital. That person’s condition was not immediately available.

According to Burgess, there were several witnesses to the shooting, and he asked that someone come forward with information to Washington police.

“The sad part is there are people in the community that know what happened and come and solve this right now, but they want to keep quiet. We need those individuals to come and speak up, because, again, it pained me today to talk to a family that I know that they have to make arrangements for an individual that is not going to be home tonight,” Burgess said. “You need to put yourself in those shoes of someone that’s going through that right now, and do the right thing and come and say something.”

Washington police are investigating. No arrests have been made.
