Second teen accused in Washington shooting arrested

The second teenager accused in a shooting in Washington more than a month ago was arrested last week in Pittsburgh.
The 17-year-old male, who was not identified by authorities, was arrested Thursday by Pittsburgh police in connection with the early morning shooting July 29 that injured a man, Washington police said in a press release.
The juvenile and another youth, 16-year-old Tristan Lassic of Washington, are accused of being involved in the shooting of Rashard Carter near his Shannon Avenue home, although he was later found at East Hallam and Ridge avenues.
Lassic was charged as an adult the next day and arrested Aug. 7 in Pittsburgh. He is facing felony charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and escape, as well as misdemeanors of possession of a firearm by a minor, prohibited possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
According to court documents, Lassic fired his weapon at Carter, striking him multiple times. Carter told investigators he became involved in a physical altercation with Arthur Mull, which led to Lassic opening fire. It was not known if Mull is the other person who will be facing charges in connection with the shooting.
Carter was initially taken to UPMC Washington hospital, but later transferred to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. He survived the shooting, but the extent of his injuries was not immediately known.
Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh said Tuesday the second juvenile was arrested in Pittsburgh on separate charges for a different incident in Allegheny County. Walsh said his office was reviewing the case to determine whether the juvenile should also face charges as an adult.
Washington police said the teen is being held at a juvenile detention facility, although they did not disclose where. Police said the case remains under investigation.
