Canonsburg man sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually exploiting minors

A Canonsburg man who pleaded guilty in April to federal charges for sexually exploiting minors he was chatting with over social media apps will spend the next two decades in prison.
Justin Darby, 37, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan on Aug. 27 and ordered to serve 20 years in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. Ranjan also ordered Darby to pay $28,000 in restitution to his victims.
Darby pleaded guilty April 28 at the federal courthouse in Pittsburgh to two counts for attempting to receive or distribute child sexual abuse material on multiple occasions by persuading multiple juveniles to send him sexually explicit content of themselves in late 2023 through early 2024. As part of his guilty plea, Darby also acknowledged he altered and destroyed information on his cellphone to obstruct the investigation.
Darby was indicted on federal charges last October.
