New Eagle man killed in Union Township crash

A New Eagle man died in a motorcycle crash in Union Township on Sunday.

Albert M. Swoager Jr., 42, lost control of the motorcycle going around a curve on Route 88 at Airport Road and hit a guide rail, according to a release from Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco.

A passerby called Washington County 911 just before 4 p.m., and Swoager was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m., the release stated.

He was the lone rider of the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet, Warco said.

The cause of Swoager’s death is pending an autopsy; the manner of his death is under investigation by Monongahela police.

Southeast Regional EMS, Finleyville Fire Department and Peters Township police also responded to the scene.
