A 19-year-old male was stabbed in the stomach at Joe Montana Stadium at Ringgold High School Sunday afternoon.

According to a Washington County 911 supervisor, the victim was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after being stabbed in an incident at the stadium at about 1:35 p.m.

According to a statement released by Randall Skrinjorich, Ringgold superintendent, the incident occurred during a non-school sponsored youth football event.

“A stabbing was reported and local law enforcement responded quickly,” the statement read. “A suspect is in custody, and the investigation is ongoing. While this incident occurred on a weekend, and outside of school hours, it did occur on district property. Therefore, we are working in full cooperation with authorities. Sincerely, our thoughts are with all who have been affected. We are committed to ensuring that our community is safe within our schools and will continue to collaborate with officials during this active investigation. Counseling and support services are available for any students or staff in need.”

The incident is under investigation by the Carroll Township Police Department.
