Washington man charged in stabbing

Washington police responded to a stabbing in the city Saturday afternoon.
Police said they were called to the 100 block of Hall Avenue shortly after 2:30 p.m. and found the alleged victim “bleeding profusely” from multiple stab wounds he had suffered moments earlier.
According to court documents, the man told investigators Edwin Layman Davis III had stabbed him with a knife on Orchard Alley near Duncan and Hall avenues. Police did not release a motive for the stabbing or if the man was hospitalized.
City police filed an arrest warrant for Davis, 35, of Washington, charging him with aggravated assault, simple assault and possessing an instrument of crime. He had not been arrested as of Monday afternoon.
