Bridgeville woman charged with theft from school booster group

1 min read

A Bridgeville woman is facing charges after she was accused of taking money from a fund supporting a middle school choral group.

Valerie Kubiak, 42, has been charged with theft by unlawful taking, access device fraud, receiving stolen property and misapplication of trusted property after she was accused of stealing $18,000 from the bank account of the Chartiers Valley Choral Parents Association.

Kubiak was the association’s treasurer and, according to Allegheny County Police, she spent the money on vacations, restaurants, sports gambling and at nail salons. Detectives from Allegheny County Police were called to assist in an investigation about the missing funds in February.

Kubiak posted a $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for May 18 at 2 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet.
