Yoga in the park
Certified yoga instructor Summer Voelker will host yoga in Mingo Creek County Park Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. This is an introductory yoga class, but all skill levels are welcome to participate. Bring a yoga mat or beach towel. The group will meet at the Mingo Creek County Park Group Camping – Log Cabin Area, located near the Observatory. Pre-registration is required and can be made online at http://washingtoncountypa.tylerparksrec.com/8799prod/ParksRec/portal/Home or by calling the Washington County Parks & Recreation Office at 724-228-6867. A fee of $5.00 will be charged.
Community church dinner
A free community dinner will be hosted at the California United Methodist Church social hall, 227 Third St., California, on Aug. 5. Doors open at 5:45 p.m., with dinner served between 6 and 7 p.m. The main entree of pasta will be provided, with sides and desserts potluck style, where attendees may bring a side dish or dessert to share. Golden Age meeting
Charleroi Area Golden Age will meet Aug. 6 at SPHS, 300 Charleroi Chamber Plaza. The meeting starts at 11:45 a.m. The trip to the Amish Tea Party has been canceled. Payment for the train, wine and chocolate trip on Aug. 28 is due at this meeting. For more information, call Sam at 724-554-5147.
Garden Club meeting
Giant Oaks Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting Aug. 6 at St. David’s, 905 McMurray Road
Lunch and the meeting start at 11:15 a.m., with the program at 1 p.m. Speaker Martha Swiss, master gardener, will discuss which perennials are best for area gardens in terms of hardiness, flowering and deer resistance. Guests are welcome to come to the lunch and program. The luncheon fee is $6 for guests. Guests need to register by calling Barb at 412-760-4221.
Pilates classes
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair will offer Pilates classes on Wednesdays, July 15 through August 26, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. for $60. Casual church gathering
First United Methodist Church of Canonsburg, 161 West Pike St., will host a “Meet Jesus at the Table” gathering on Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. The service is a casual gathering in the church library with Pastor Deb Rogosky sharing stories, communion and light refreshments. All are welcome to attend. Meetings are on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
Coin club meeting
The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. All members and the general public are invited. This month’s program will be on special edition coins and currency. A 50/50 will be offered, and children’s prizes will be awarded. Applications are now being accepted for membership. Car and motorcycle show
The First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, located at 501 Fayette Ave. in Rostraver Township, will hold its annual car, truck and motorcycle show on Aug. 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free admission to the general public. Faith and fitness classes
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair will host free faith-and-fitness classes to move, lift spirits and strengthen faith. The next class is set for Aug. 15, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Easy-to-follow fitness movements set to inspiring contemporary Christian music.
