Hanover Township to hold hearing on Starpointe data center application
Hanover Township will hold a public hearing this evening regarding a conditional use permit for a large data center project within Starpointe Business Park on Wednesday, setting the stage to advance the development.
The meeting will be held at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department Hall at 9 Starck Drive at 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to a public notice for the meeting.
According to Solicitor Dennis Makel, the township rescheduled the meeting from July following an issue with the initial public notice advertising the conditional use hearing.
A site map submitted alongside the conditional use application shows seven smaller data center buildings and a central power generation station located along Starpointe Boulevard.
The township adopted an ordinance regulating data center development during a meeting in March, prior to the application submitted by Dallas, Texas-based developer Prime Data Centers LLC, which currently operates 28 data center projects across the country.
The Starpointe Business Park was built in 2004 and operated by Washington County Council on Economic Development using land reclaimed from mining activity.
Almost 900 acres of the 1,200-acre property were sold to ALTIAN Development LLC of Pennsylvania in late 2024 following a $11.193 million judgment against the council for lack of payments for work performed by Independence Excavating Inc.
