School districts to receive grants for security, mental health initiatives
Seven school districts in the 48th Legislative District will be receiving more than $1.4 million from Pennsylvania’s School Safety and Mental Health Grant Program.
The funding will be used to support physical security enhancements and mental health initiatives. It was renewed for the 2026-27 school year as part of the recently approved state budget.
State Rep. Tim O’Neal represents the 48th Legislative District, and he said, “Children should feel safe and secure when they are in school. “This funding helps school districts strengthen security measures, expand access to mental health resources and prepare for potential safety threats.”
The school districts will receive the following amounts:
Bentworth – $145,861
Canon-McMillan – $327,742
Charleroi – $160,981
McGuffey – $166,178
Ringgold – $209,965
Trinity – $239,319
Washington – $166,300
The 48th Legislative District includes the city of Washington, East Washington, South Strabane and other parts of Washington County.
