Pickup truck strikes house in West Middletown
Numerous area emergency crews were on scene for hours working to stabilize a West Middletown house that was struck by a pickup truck early Saturday morning.
There were no injuries, but the house at 42 West Main Street did suffer significant damage.
According to Washington County 911, a pickup truck left the road and struck the house at about 1:30 a.m. The inhabitants of the house were trapped inside for a short period of time, but emergency crews were able to get them out safely. The driver of the truck also was uninjured.
A large number of crews were dispatched to help stabilize the house.
Fire companies responding included West Middletown, Avella, Mt. Pleasant, Charleroi, Bentleyville, North Strabane and Brooke County Station 7 out of West Virginia. The Washington County HAZMAT team also was on hand, as was Ambulance & Chair Service out of Washington.
According to the Bentleyville VFD Facebook page, crews worked for a little more than three hours to stabilize the structure and all companies returned to service at about 6 a.m.
A Washington County 911 representative said the Salvation Army and American Red Cross also were contacted.
