Washington City Council will have its first voting meeting of the new year Thursday.

Among the items on the agenda is approval of the final reading of the ordinance to fix the tax rate for 2026.

In December, council approved a $15.3 million budget for 2026 that did not include a tax increase.

At Monday’s agenda meeting, engineer Sam Carroll of Harshman CE Group said the city received a $130,000 grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Greenway Trails and Recreation Program. The funding will be used for repairs to the baby swimming pool and pool house at Washington Park as well as some other items at the pool.

“The ask was $150,000, so we were almost fully funded,” Carroll said. “We’ll take the money we did receive and make as much happen out there as possible.”

Council also held its reorganization meeting Monday, which included swearing in reelected Councilmen Andrew Callan and Joseph DeThomas.
