Somerset County man killed in Fayette crash
A Somerset County man was killed Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Route 40 in South Union Township.
First responders were called to the scene about 6:28 p.m. The crash involving a minivan and a tractor trailer occurred in the eastbound lane of Route 40, near the Lick Hollow Historical Site, said the Pennsylvania State Police.
A PSP investigation determined the minivan had rear-ended the tractor trailer that was driving up the mountain with its hazard lights activated.
Michael Duritsky, 28, of Addison, the driver of the minivan, was pronounced dead at the scene, Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker said in a release.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured or identified.
Roadway debris from the initial incident caused two additional crashes while responders were still on scene, the PSP said. No injuries resulted from those crashes.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, and a post-crash inspection was conducted, the PSP said. The PSP continues to investigate the incident.
